Crafted circa 1880s during the Victorian era, this antique secretary bookcase showcases richly figured burl walnut veneers with the dramatic swirling grain collectors have admired for generations. Original brass hardware, original brass casters, and elegant period detailing speak to the quality of its craftsmanship, while the two-piece construction allows the upper bookcase and lower secretary to separate for easier transport and placement.

The glazed upper cabinet features adjustable shelving and a convenient interior drawer, creating a beautiful place to display leather-bound books, porcelain, or treasured collections while keeping smaller items neatly tucked away. Below, the secretary base features a fall-front writing surface that opens to reveal its original green felt writing surface, pigeonholes, document compartments, and small drawers, while three spacious dovetailed drawers provide generous storage beneath. Open it when inspiration strikes, then simply close the writing surface away, leaving behind a beautifully curated cabinet that feels equally at home in a library, dining room, living room, or home office.

Condition: Very good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The original interior wood glazing trim surrounding the glass has age-related losses and has been discreetly stabilized with clear silicone to securely support the original glass for everyday use and transport. The repair is unobtrusive when displayed. Locks are present; however, no key is included. Please review all photographs, as they are considered part of the description.
